At the bottom of the task configuration form, you can choose to assign the task GUID to a workflow variable. Once you have that variable, you can lookup all of the information regarding that task, including comments.

This is also important for created relative links to form assets, such as images. Currently, an image on a form needs to use a full URL which makes it difficult to migrate the form between different environments.

The switch functionality works well for this - you can even use an "other" branch for an unspecified value.

This is possible using web services, but it is such a pain to implement - and you need to do it for every form. It would be so helpful to have this as out of the box functionality.
