Full control of how K2 cloud sends e-mails
There are a few ideas on this forum already to modify the 'from' address of an e-mail. These requests vary in a few options:
- Change the KUID to something nice (https://ideas.k2.com/ideas/APIT-I-92 - already shipped)
- Make the display name of the e-mail address something different.
- Allow e-mails to come from the customer's own domain.
- Allow full control over the from address (this would be for customers that have multiple domains, or are providing services to other (internal) customers and need to send on behalf of them).
Most ideas are slightly difficult to implement as the e-mail configuration is managed by the K2 Cloud Operations team. K2 Cloud utilizes it's own Exchange Online instance for this.
If K2 Cloud allowed the customer to configure the settings to send out an e-mail, then it would mean they would be able to accomplish all the above options. They could use their own O365 instance, or some other SMTP option.
The configuration responsibility would be up to the customer as well as the configuration of SPF records and so on (documentation would be needed). It must be clear that K2 Cloud Operations is no longer responsible for the e-mail configuration. The K2 product should allow for some way of diagnosing e-mail problems (for example, by providing a logfile of the last X e-mails that are send and the response from the mail server).
