  1. Enable a Simple Navigation and Second Level Navigation to integrate into Views.

I manage to create a View for Simple Navigation, however many sites and complex apps use navigation, much more elegant than the Tabs. so why not include some navigation control with maybe 1 or 2 levels for easy usage.

  2. Managment Drill Down - Expand the sub menus below when menu-text is clicked

Currently when the menu text is clicked the sub items are displayed to the right only. The preference would be for it to both display on the right and below. Currently you have to differentiate between the menu text and the arrow to the left of the text.

  3. K2 License has expired, allow users to update this via the UI after license expiration

When your license has expired, it would be great if you have the ability to update this via the K2 Management UI instead of having to run this via the K2 Configuration Manager or updating it directly in the K2 Database.

Below it would be better for users if it said:

    Expired License

Your license has expired, please enter your new license key that you have received from portal.k2.com

Enter your new license key: xxxxxxxxx

    [Update Button]

With it pre-populating the machine key, it would make it easier than the current system of having to reach out to a K2…

  4. Support for Security Username Token authentication with the Webservice Endpoint broker

Currently the K2 Webservice Endpoint broker does not support Security Username Token authentication; at the moment this is only implemented for WCF Endpoint broker.

With the WCF Endpoint broker, once successfully configured and registered, you have to pass in the username token every time you execute a SmO method against the registered service -- sure, you can put this in a variable field or maybe even an environment filed but this is very static in nature. In other words if or when you change the password information for the underlying service account you will need to update the serialized complex…

  5. Designer for Firefox

Everyone has their preference of browser choice, and since K2's motto is always "keeping with the latest technology", it would only be fair to ask that we consider adding the K2 Designer as part of Firefox support again.

  6. Rules Designer QuickAccess 'Rule Viewer'

When building or maintaining a complex set of rules in the SmartForms rules designer, there is often a call made to another rule (bound or unbound rules). This call is typically made within a parent rule. So, if I hover over each line in the parent rule, I'm greeted with the quick-access toolbar. A useful addition to this quick-access toolbar is a 'rule viewer' icon, so that the user will be able to see the contents of the highlighted rule, not necessarily to modify it, but just to view it as a quick reference while working on the parent rule.

  7. Ability for P&D to handle merging better during package deployment

If or when two solutions share a common artifact i.e. View, with rule(s) configured at the Form level. When deploying the two solutions to the same target environment, whichever of the two packages get deployed last will maintain the Form level rule configuration.

This is a known issue with P&D in the area of extended rule merging (where the rule is added onto an existing view event from the form context) when the relevant SmartForms artifacts is shared between artifacts for instance, as described in more detail on http://jhbtfs:8080/tfs/labs/WorkItemTracking/WorkItem.aspx?artifactMoniker=862760

  8. Consistent names of constructs across all designers and reports

Process/Workflow, Step/Activity, Task/Event, Date Field/Variable, reports still use old actual object names while Designers are using newer friendlier names - confusing

Use the corrected modern names in all manifestations of the product where they are found. This simplifies documentation, tutorials, and the understanding of the platform.

Specific: Set values in Data Fields, or something kind of like a Variable but the task is set Data Field. Are we talking process data fields, or variable, or step or activity data fields? Because these constructs persist, they are a field and variable is an incorrect term. Move to "Environment Data Fields", "Workflow…

  9. Provide option to use Input Properties in Create Document Reference step

SharePoint Online has a hard limit on how many records can be queried in a list. If that limit is reached, the following error will be returned:

The attempted operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold enforced by the administrator.

The Create Document Reference step in workflow only allows user to specify Filters to retrieve documents, but not Input Properties. This becomes a problem when user tries to retrieve a document from a particular folder

When using Input Properties to specify a Folder path, a property called "FolderServerRelativeURL" is sent by K2 to SharePoint. This allows SharePoint…

  10. Show process data directly on ViewFlow report

It would be really nice if we could view contextual reporting information directly on the ViewFlow view based on the block or element that you click on.

For example when you click on a Task, then all the applicable task information that we can also see in the reports can be seen in a slide-out panel on the side of the ViewFlow report (see attached image). Similarly, you could view applicable information for various block types. And of course, the process instance data, such as data fields, folio, originator etc are also seen on this side panel. Lastly, would also…

  11. Use default security label in K2 management site

    Hi,

Whenver you use users/groups in K2, there is a dialog that shows up in K2 management for you to select these users.

This dialog has a dropdown for the security label.

I would like this dropdown to default to the default security label that is configured in K2.

It's quite annoying that you have to select the correct security label if you're on AAD (Which we generally advise in cloud/hybrid scenarios).

  12. Allow ability to view report list views in a larger view

The standard K2 Management / Workspace process reports contain various list views (for example "All Instances", Active Tasks, Activities, Data fields, etc). All these list views are set standard to only show 5 records in the list view. When working with large amounts of data this 5 record limit is extremely user unfriendly and limiting in sifting through the data.

It would be great if the user can click on the heading of the list view and this navigates him to a new report that shows this list view in full screen mode with maybe 25+ records per page to…

  13. K2 elements edit locking control should be the same for all elements

    Category Designer Behavior

SmartObjects = last save wins. Forms = check in check out. Workflows (HTML5) = auto lock (don't forget to File >Close)

Recommendation: All element definitions should behave the same. Use the either the auto-lock or the Check-Out, Check In pattern for all of them. Also offer an admin override to clear a lock.

  14. Workflow: Missing SmartObject Reference/dependency Checking

Currently within how the product is designed today, we often encounter an issue when trying to package up solutions and once we have finalised our workflows, we get thrown with deployment errors such as:

"Process is referencing X property on X SmartObject that could not be found."

    1. This leaves us with two work-arounds, either delete the references and rebuild the workflow task

    2. Manually fix the JSON and inject the definition https://readiness.k2.com/jsoncleanup

Both of these options are painful and require even more work to ensure that we can successfully package up solutions for migration.

Idea: ensure that we load SmartObject references/do…

  15. SmartObject Designer General Tab - Change Type Descriptions

    Category: SmartObject Designer

The general tab of the Designer offers two types.

The advanced type description is not accurate: It reads "Combine data using multiple SmartObject Services." This sentence is not the primary reason to use this type. The second type is to make SmartObjects on Service Objects from other Service Types, it can also stack and composite SVO Methods.

Recommendation: Define this general tab "TYPE" section to read:

First button: "Use SmartBox Service Type"/"Data stored by K2"

Second Button: "Use Other Service Types"/"Data stored by providers."

    OR THE LIKE

  16. A CLOUD READY BROKER for File IO on local servers, FTP servers, URL, etc.

    INTEGRATE TO ANYTHING!!

It is about time we had an OUT OF THE BOX Broker, with right method inputs, returns, and config to support

READ/WRITE to URI addressable namespaces, given ports and security config. That could be FILE://, HTTP://, FTP://, etc.

  17. Implement a "Revert" option in the K2 Setup Manager to restore to a previous version

With the introduction of the "Recover" option in the K2 Installer, there are some very rare instances where recovery may not be possible, which causes the installer to be stuck in a "limbo" state of not being able to revert/proceed with the upgrade.

(Say for example you have a new server and no "checkpoint" is available to revert back to/you need to make changes to the K2 Service Account credentials due to a special characters being in the Service Account Name/Password that has the potential to break the installation or another example is that something goes wrong with a production…

  18. Add "swipe" ready rules to mobile forms

To further strengthen our K2 mobile app it would be great if designers can configure rules based on "when a user swipes" on a form or a view. This will help us to build really modern user experiences on the mobile platform that breaks free from the desktop paradigm.

Some example use cases are to navigate from one tab to another, to navigate from one view to another (so views could look like they are next to each other in a wizard style format). Swipe sideways to show a subform that contains additional information, help info for the current form…

  19. Allow support for adding multisubnet=true to sql connection string in sql always on scenarios

This is with respect to setting up the K2 Database for automatic failover via the SQL Always on feature:

    https://help.k2.com/kb001572

In a scenario where both the primary and secondary replica are in different subnets we will configure the listener to have two IP addresses, one for each subnet. However, due to SQL configuration, once we failover to the secondary replica and need to hit secondary subnet, we will hit the SQL Availability group listener and try the subnet IPs configured for the listener in a serial manner. This causes the K2 product to run into connection timeout issues after a…

  20. Allow App Wizard to reuse existing SmartObjects

There needs to be a way to use existing SmartObjects to reuse existing assets and/or use external (non-SmartBox) data sources. A lot of times the lookup information in the apps make use of existing information/SmartObjects whic either needs to be replicated and maintained separately or swapped out after the app generated.
