A lot of customers have portals or dashboards that feeds off a internal LOB, such as application database. If a workflow goes into error state, one need the ability to reflect this on a dashboard - e.g. set the status of the business entity / instance record associated with the workflow to "Error".

In 4.7 this could be achieved with custom code for the Exception Rule on the Process level, but this is not available in K2 Five.
