  1. k2_schema_owner documentations

Would like some official public facing documentation surrounding the k2schemaowner login, how it is used, and why you should not make any changes to it.

  2. "Update Password" option in Setup Manager

Currently, in order to update the K2 service account password you must choose the "Configure" option. "Configure" touches many parts of K2 that are unnecessary for a password change and can unintentionally alter various environment settings. Additionally, after running a "Configure", you must reapply fix packs or cumulative updates. This is a lot of risk and extra work for a simple password change.

Adding a lightweight password update option that would not affect other configurations or require the reapplication of fixes would make this process much simpler, especially as password rotation policies are becoming more commonplace.

  3. Have a warning message/popup when the upgrade/Update/Cumulative Update/Fix pack if the current user is not the same from the last execution

We can lost lot of time if we execute the upgrade, Update, Cumulative Update or Fix pack with a "simple" user account.
Could you add a warning message like this:
'Warning: you are connected as "Bob", the last time a K2 setup has been executed, you used the account "K2Service"'

In the same time, you can check if the execution has been done with the right click "Run as administrator" with a corresponding warning:
'Warning: you didn't execute this setup with "Run as administrator"'

    Thank you
    regards
    Benoit

  4. Smartobject Service tester ++ - new Feature to find workflow use

It would be perfect to find all the forms and workflows where a workflow is starting or using.

  5. Force Installation Of K2 DB on specific physical path

Currently the behaviour is as designed:

K2 installer determines the file locations based on the location of the master DB. The only supported way to change the file location for K2 DB files, is to change the location of the master DB.

To install K2 using a new default database file location.

When changing the default data file location on smss the database file is still created in the program files location but when creating a database through smss it seems to be created in the new default data file location.

We want the possibility to install K2 using a…

  6. Export "schema"

After a catastrophic loss of data, we have had to rebuild forms from scratch. We are now in the process of documenting with screenshots but it is tedious (especially with rules with advance conditions etc where you have to drill down with extra screenshots). It would be nice if you could export a "schema" for rules either by form or by view.

  7. K2 Setup Manager backs up all config files before starting

Potentially a lot of customers have made changes to various *.config files in K2, and potentially don't have a backup of this file (notably the K2HostServer.exe.config and HostServerLogging.config files).

I realize that as part of the "Configuration" step in K2 Setup Manager, it also makes changes to all config files, but in the case of 5.3 for example, when the SameSite Cookie changes have been made to various web.config files, and K2 Setup Manager is run to resolve a different issue, then those SameSite Cookie changes are reverted and need to be configured again if no backup exists.

    There are…

  8. Allow support for adding multisubnet=true to sql connection string in sql always on scenarios

This is with respect to setting up the K2 Database for automatic failover via the SQL Always on feature:

    https://help.k2.com/kb001572

In a scenario where both the primary and secondary replica are in different subnets we will configure the listener to have two IP addresses, one for each subnet. However, due to SQL configuration, once we failover to the secondary replica and need to hit secondary subnet, we will hit the SQL Availability group listener and try the subnet IPs configured for the listener in a serial manner. This causes the K2 product to run into connection timeout issues after a…

  9. Implement a "Revert" option in the K2 Setup Manager to restore to a previous version

With the introduction of the "Recover" option in the K2 Installer, there are some very rare instances where recovery may not be possible, which causes the installer to be stuck in a "limbo" state of not being able to revert/proceed with the upgrade.

(Say for example you have a new server and no "checkpoint" is available to revert back to/you need to make changes to the K2 Service Account credentials due to a special characters being in the Service Account Name/Password that has the potential to break the installation or another example is that something goes wrong with a production…

  10. Ability to pass multiple user names to "Get Role Peers" method under "TaskAllocationRoleMethods" SMO

Category "Task Allocation" --> "TaskAllocationRoleMethods" SMO --> "Get Role Peers" method

At present, only single user FQN can be passed to "Get Role Peers" method to get the list of users. But, if we can pass multiple users FQN (semicolon seperated) then it would be helpful for the scenarios where we need to pass a list of users to the method in order to get the list of rest of the users.

There is a customer requirement to not allows user to approve the task again if he/she has already approved it. In a scenario, we also need to pass…

  11. Smart action to identify the user who take an action via email

using smartaction user can directly reply via email for the task that assigned to them. this one works perfectly but there should be an SMO or way to identify the user who took the action or reply via email.

We need this for auditing and report purposes.

  12. The Repair All button is available even when Setup is all green

When K2 Setup Manager completes successfully, and everything is green checkboxes in Configuration Analysis Tool afterward, then the Repair All button is still available to be clicked.

Maybe it would be best to disable this button since there is nothing to be repaired?

  13. K2 License has expired, allow users to update this via the UI after license expiration

When your license has expired, it would be great if you have the ability to update this via the K2 Management UI instead of having to run this via the K2 Configuration Manager or updating it directly in the K2 Database.

Below it would be better for users if it said:

    Expired License

Your license has expired, please enter your new license key that you have received from portal.k2.com

Enter your new license key: xxxxxxxxx

    [Update Button]

With it pre-populating the machine key, it would make it easier than the current system of having to reach out to a K2…

  15. Function for K2's that can control the lifetime of the token issued by ADFS

Since there's no configuration on K2's end that can control the lifetime of the token issued by ADFS and from time to time the customer page is refreshing because the ADFS token lifetime is to short, a function like this will help us managing and minimize the discomfort.

  16. Support for Security Username Token authentication with the Webservice Endpoint broker

Currently the K2 Webservice Endpoint broker does not support Security Username Token authentication; at the moment this is only implemented for WCF Endpoint broker.

With the WCF Endpoint broker, once successfully configured and registered, you have to pass in the username token every time you execute a SmO method against the registered service -- sure, you can put this in a variable field or maybe even an environment filed but this is very static in nature. In other words if or when you change the password information for the underlying service account you will need to update the serialized complex…

  17. Shared work queue implementation improvement

We've run into a couple of use cases requiring our users to implement shared work queues for teams that want to let users pick tasks they want to on. In other words, one queue needs to be fed tasks to be worked by the whole team. At this moment, K2 forces us to implement shared mailboxes which are not compatible with our Exchange configuration. From our view, it would make a lot of sense to separate the actual task/workload balancing from the actual configuration of the underlying infrastructure supporting cases/tasks. In other words, tasks may need to be picked via…

  18. Security vulnerability notification advisory for K2 software

There is no automatic alert sent when a new K2 security patch is released or when a new security vulnerability is found.

With the ever increasing rate of security attacks, it is important to apply security patches on K2 software promptly. Timely notifications sent to customers providing such advisory will be crucial.

  19. Have a tool to clean some Save action of K2 Five workflow designer generating an important size of table Designer.ProcessHistory

On our development database, we found that the table Designer.ProcessHistory takes more than 8Go.
After analysis, a record is added after each click on "Save" button (not only deployment) with the full process definition on Json format. This also occurs after each autosave.

This generates disk space issue on development environment.

  20. SmartObject Designer General Tab - Change Type Descriptions

    Category: SmartObject Designer

The general tab of the Designer offers two types.

The advanced type description is not accurate: It reads "Combine data using multiple SmartObject Services." This sentence is not the primary reason to use this type. The second type is to make SmartObjects on Service Objects from other Service Types, it can also stack and composite SVO Methods.

Recommendation: Define this general tab "TYPE" section to read:

First button: "Use SmartBox Service Type"/"Data stored by K2"

Second Button: "Use Other Service Types"/"Data stored by providers."
