workflow cancelled : choose to send email notification
It would be great to choose whether to send a notification or not when a workflow is cancelled. Indeed, sometimes we need to cancel a workflow by using the "Terminate workflow" action or via the Nintex seb service and it is part of the normal process, it isn't an error or an unexpected behavior. That's why it could be useful to not send a notification in this case.

Hey guys, would updating the email notification messaging to reflect that the workflow was intentionally cancelled meet your needs?

Is there any update on this? I would appreciate a way to gracefully cancel a running (sub-)workflow.

Hi Lisa Tam
I think it would be more better if Nintex team add custom notification message in "Terminate Workflow" action or via the Nintex web service. it will help the initiator to know why the workflow has been cancelled.

No, it would be great to do different email settings for Error and Cancel notification.
If my workflow cancel an other workflow, it works as I want it, I don't need an email for canceling. -

Not quite. Such technical notifications aren't always welcome by senior management or other picky staff members.

No, I don't believe it would. Part of the reason for not sending an email is to eliminate the inevitable questions that would be raised from the users who would be confused about why you were cancelling the workflow.

Hi Lisa, this wouldn't meet my needs as the email notification would still cause confusion for many of the users in my organisation; they use a lot of SharePoint-based systems without knowing about the underlying workflows that support them. Cancellation notifications will only cause concern and increase the number of support queries I receive, and for some of the things I'd like to develop using this feature it would generate an annoying amount of emails for heavy users of the system.

Hi Lisa,
Not for me either: in some cases I restart a "notify" workflow because the target of the notifications has changed. In that cases I don't want the original one to be notified that the workflow was canceled, even intentionally...

Hi Lisa,
no I don't think that does. There are times (ie conditionally select, eg web service method parameter) where we would want to completely supress the sending of the workflow cancelled email. -

Agreed, there should be a workflow action that allows you to stop a workflow and prevent any communications of it happening.

It would make my life much easier if this could be added, please!

This is really important for us. We use the Terminate Workflow action to legitimately control which workflow is running on a lot of our workflows.
Everytime I get one of these email it worries me that our workflows are not working.
This is not an error so I should not get an error email informing me as such.

It is needed in my case as well. Is anyone knowing how many votes are needed to make the feature being implemented? Since the need was posted three year ago!!!

This would be extremely useful as I don't want users getting an email that will confuse them regarding something that works in the background and is not an error its just a change in situation that requires existing flows to be cancelled. Alternately being able to customise the email message derived from using the Terminate Flow option would help.
What I need it for at the moment is when a list record is reopened. In this instance as well as start a new workflow I need to terminate several workflows including the archiving and retention policy. This is not an error and the user getting emails telling them various workflows they have never heard of have cancelled will result in a call to service desk. I do not want to direct all emails elsewhere.

Also, please make 'response no longer required' optional for cases when bulk termination is necessary.

We need this too. The only workaround is to use groups and temporarily remove users from groups while terminating a large number of workflows.

It would also be great to be able to customize the error message. For example, I'd like to put the title of the item, its URL (in plain text format) and some additional information.

By having this option, its going to help greatly and the user experience would be seamless, specifically in case of an terminate workflow action which was put intentionally.
