Find and remove unused variables
There should be a way to list and remove unused variables in the Workflow Designer.
The current approach (trying to delete individual variables to find out if the system throws an error message) is not convenient.
This feature is now available from the latest versions outline below
Nintex Workflow for SharePoint 2013 v126.96.36.199
Nintex for SharePoint 2016 v188.8.131.52
Nintex for SharePoint 2019 v184.108.40.206

Be careful, sometimes variables are said to be not used, but are in fact used (yes I'm looking at you error handling variables) and you can delete them without a problem.
Also reorder of variables would be a great idea
It could be very usefull for using Snipets. Snipets unfortunatelly include all variables from source workflow :( As Alan wrote earlier...
Any updates on this feature since 2 years?
This is an option in the Office365 Designer. Hopefully they bring this feature to the onprem version too.

YES, it would be excellent if there was a "Remove unused variables" checkbox on the Workflow Settings form. I have a lot of snippets that I use, and they've got variables in there which get grafted in. Now these snippets, sometimes I'm just using 20% of it, and delete the remainder; but still get all the variables, be they used in the final workflow or not.
Good suggestion. That's how I do it, and I agree it isn't the cleanest approach.
