Copy metadata when converting a Word document to PDF document
If converting a Word document to a new PDF document it would be nice if you can copy the metadata of the Word document to the PDF file.

I agree 100%. We have a subsite with a source (working) library. Once the file is approve in this library, I need to convert it to PDF and bring over the associated metadata (site columns) to the destination library at the root site level. The metadata is attached to a content type so the fields are all the same. Would seem like this is basic functionality. If SPD can do it, Nintex should definitely be able to.

I thought it did copy metadata provided the columns were site columns?

I ended up purchasing Muhimbi PDF Convertor for SharePoint which allows me to copy both the source metadata and content type during the conversion process, I now want to look at migrating all content to Office 365 but Muhimbi is proving very expensive and there is no option to upgrade. Are there any plans for Nintex Workflow to accommodate this functionality.

Good suggestion! I wonder if this is a current limitation to SharePoint Word Automation Service?
