From Field in Send an Email
It would be great to have a From field that supports dynamic references. Most business requirements want emails sent from a specific account, which is not supported in NW in O365!

To support this requirement we’ve just release the following features
- Specify a customizable sender display name for both email and task actions, we understand one of the main requests was to be able to supply a custom from email address however due to many of the limitations in the cloud we are currently unable to deliver this request and so hopefully being able to add a From display name will get you one step closer..
- Add a customizable Reply To email address for the email action so you can control the email address when people hit reply.
Hope you enjoy these features and be great to hear any feedback once you try them out.

Changing the email address of the sender is what we need as well for all of the exact same reasons the others have posted. Why is it that Flow and other software vendors can do this?

Although the from Display Name was an improvement, we really need to be able to assign a username e.g. creator/initiator as the sender as others have suggested.
In our case we are parsing email fields from Nintex/SharePoint O365 into Manage Engine Service Desk Plus, and at present all tickets are being raised against SharePoint Online and not the actual requestor. Consequently the tickets raised cannot send out notifications to the user after creation until a technician has manually updated the Requestor field in MESDP.

It would be awesome if there was an SMTP connector we could use to send from a specific account from our organisation.
It's a step forward that you can modify the display name and reply email address, but we'd love to send from a specific account. -

Anybody found a solution to this issue since no matter how many words I put in the "Sender display name", noreply@workflownotification.com keeps coming!
Have been trying to remove this noreply@workflownotification.com.

@Nintex: Even the reply email adress is correct, please remove noreply@workflownotification.com in the email of the recipient.
@Other Users: I found a "workaround". Enter a lot of text in the field "Sender display name" (YourName, YourCompanyName, YourCompanyProduct or Service, and so on). Finally the "noreply@workflownotification.com" is not visible anymore.

I can add a customised repy-to email address, but the message the user just recieved from the from address was "noreply@workflownotification.com" couple of issues here.
it does seem to suggest to the user that any replies won't be successful. And the generic from address looks like phishing or spam.

Has there been a real progress on this?
We're Mid 2019 and the post say that something is in progress back in 2018. This is a real need. We use the aliases but they don't mind anything if the email address itself cannot be modified.

Justin - please read through the Send an Email documentation. You can update the Reply to, Sender Display Name. Even if you are sending internal emails, you can select the options to allow these updates.

Not what we need. Need to be able to change the "From:" email address. MS Flow can do it! Why can't Nintex?

Agree with Anon, Oct 3 2018. Same use case.

This would be especially helpful when we have email notifications going to our IT Help Desk. The email triggers a ticket to be created and we want all communication regarding that ticket to go to the requester NOT no-reply@sharepointonline.com.

How about being able to configure at least the "Display Name" of the sender, even though the actual unterlying address might not be changed.

We have emails coming from external accounts labeled as EXTERNAL - to prevent phishing attacks. The current generic SharePoint email address used for sending emails also gets this treatment - so that some are wary of opening and working on tasks or forms linked from such emails.
I would hope having a FROM address set to the workflow initiator or an item modified by person's address would avoid this, and be a lot more useful than a generic Whozat@sharepoint -

@John Larson....No the from filed in Office 365 is always a generic email address. Hopefully when this gets fixed they will update the task action as well to set a from in there.

Does this issue go away if the user initiating the action has an Exchange Online mailbox?
